Handcrafted: Artisans Past & Present at the Fairfield Museum & History Center

If you love furniture and decorative arts, visit The Fairfield Museum and History Center‘s show Artisans Past and Present.  The Museum is located on 370 Beach Street in Fairfield Connecticut and is open daily from 10 am – 4 pm.

From antique furniture to sumptuous contemporary rugs, Fairfield County possesses a rich tradition of decorative arts. This exhibition highlights the diverse and talented artisans who have worked in the region and explores the connection between the area’s strong history of decorative arts and present-day design trends.

Contemporary artists include weaver Patricia Burling (Monroe), glass artists Dylan Cotton and Christopher DeMott, (Fairfield), basket weaver Kari Lonning (Ridgefield), jeweler Michael Michaud (Fairfield), textile artist Ruben Marroquin (Bridgeport), woodworker Thomas Throop (New Canaan), ceramist Frances Palmer (Weston), woodworker Edward Pirnik-Mauriz (Fairfield), quilter Denyse Schmidt (Bridgeport), and weaver Marnie Smith (Fairfield).
